www.beta-store.com

ELECTROSTEP PRESS:

KNOWLEDGE MAGAZINE: "Electrostep is quite simply the most breathtakingly personal album by a drum & bass artist since New Forms. John B has single-handedly created a new genre in Electrostep, and it would be criminal if he didnt go on to achieve a similar level of acclaim as Roni Size did at the 1997 Mercury Music Awards."

IDJ MAGAZINE - ALBUM OF THE MONTH: "If you think drum & bass has steered itself into an artistic cul-de-sac then you definitely need to hear this album, for it is unlike any other thrown up from this scene. For the past few years, with singles such as American Girls and Electrofreeek plus Marilyn Manson remixes, John B has almost single-handedly developed a drum & bass style soaked in eighties electro, rock, grunge and trance influences and doused in tongue-in-cheek humour; and it has garnered him a fan-base few of his contemporaries could test. Alongside original compositions such as Russian Bride and Stalking You On My Space, both demonstrating his acute take on life online, the album includes covers of 80s classics such as Tainted Love and Hey Mickey, remixes of Howard Jones and Dirty Sanchez, all presented in a dynamic dance floor mix. If you buy one drum & bass album this year, make it this, as youll be playing it in years to come 5/5"

DJ MAGAZINE: "John B is drum and basss eccentric anomaly! Not afraid to uniquely express himself... open minds should investigate!"

TEH PRESS RELEASE OMG

Electrostep, is varied, accessible, interesting, exciting & genre-bustingly electro-Robo-Tastic. John B's 7th album is more than just a collection of disposable, short-lived dumb dancefloor D&B tracks. Lots of clever, funny lyrics, robot vocals, wide-ranging musical styles, pioneering approaches to production, mainstream appeal but its still underground, raw & refreshing. The influence of modern Electro, indie/rock & 80s synthpop is noticeable throughout, but is interpreted in a way that moulds perfectly with the power and energy of Drum & Bass to define a revolutionary new direction: soon to be widely known as 'ElectroStep'!

Collaborators include: 80's superstar Howard Jones on 'For You See Me' - a powerful blend of electropunk & DnB with a gorgeous vocal & breakdown/buildup. John Bs Porn star friend Marcy Meow provides vocals on the 80s covers 'Tainted love' and 'Metro'. "We met in San Francisco - she's done around 25 movies to date including Barely Legal and Bang Bros." Marcy has her own band Suicide Tuesday and is currently working in Vegas. John performed with her this year at the WMC in miami at the soho lounge. Other collaborators include Floridian Bands Fashionista & Iowatest, Soma-signed My Robot Friend, new UK act One Life Left and LA Electro-TrannySex-Masters Dirty Sanchez.

> VIDEO // JOHN B @ URBAN ART FORMS FESTIVAL 3 Aug 2006 <

Hi guys! Got a new video for you here, a little 10 minute tour documentary thing from my gig on 3rd August at the Urban Art Forms Festival in Wiesen, Austria. Was an amazing gig, the opening night of the 3 day festival, 2500 people there in the tent, dancing robots, huge video projection screens, and me with 2 Litres of wine, and a microphone... A dangerous combination - luckily it only hit me by the last track!

You can see the video here:

> VIDEO // JOHN B IN SARAJEVO Aug 2006 <

Another cool video for you - recorded from my trip to Sarajevo in Bosnia a couple of weeks ago - look for the bullet and grenade holes in the blocks of flats, and more fun club footage. I'm keeping them nice and short and sweet now, its only about 8 mins long - enough for a timewastey coffee break at work... You know you want to... ;-)

> Random Update <

Whoah. Hi there guys. Again, its been ages since my last proper non businessy blog. Apologies. All I can say is things have been really busy - DJing every weekend, and handling all the promo work for my album, "Electrostep" which is out now and seems to be doing pretty well! Hurrah! Even managed to get it up on iTunes and they've asked me to do a 'celebrity playlist' too... Signed a deal to put the album out in the US too, so that should be rolling out soon - and also in Russia - although I'm doing a special version for them over there, with my 'Russian Girls' Track in there... hehe. Last weekend was pretty cool, i had some cancellations on Friday and Saturday, so I had a friend over and just chilled out, went to Windsor and actually got some sunbathing in and a couple of quick BBQs - then flew out ultra early on Sunday for a gig in germany - a nice daytime festival thing by a lake - it rained a bit though so wasn't as busy as it coudl have been. It felt wierd to be DJing in daylight though, and even wierder to be back in the hotel job done before midnight. Cool though. Early nights rule, and I don't seem to get enough of them. I've jsut finished off doing the guest reviews for Knowledge magzine so look out for the next issue... And also jsut finished packing for Thailand - I leave the house in about an hour, im jsut going for a couple of days - the gig is Saturday night. Im going Business class though so shouldn't be too traumatic - i just hope my bags make the connection. My friend Kate has lent me some essential classics to read so hopefully I'll come back smarter and more cultured. And hopefully without having been taken advantage of by ladyboys, but with plenty of fake designer bags... Mmmmm. Hmm, what else? i guess I'm feeling a bit unhealthy at the moment, I've been eating really weirdly over the summer, just through time constraints, travelling, jetlag, going out too much etc - think its time for a summer detox and sort out of my nutritional thangs... Also don't feel like I've been getting enough exercise - although I did my 4 mile run yesterday in good time, 31 minutes, and I still had loads of energy - so I know im still fit. Have just been getting so bored in the gym lately, I cant be arsed to do much in there, just seems so monotonous - maybe I'll do some aerobics classses or something - or I need to change what I listen to on the iPod to fire me up a bit more... Oh, and I've discovered I really like CSI now too - can't get enough of it. I think until I get the next series of OZ or the Sopranos the mysteries of VIC's GSR and CODs in CSi will keep me going through the dark times... hah. Ok, im off to check I packed everything for Thailand ok, back on Monday - hopefully with some funny video footage...
